Documentation Where you can save

How to save leads from News publishers

A funding round, an acquisition, a new chief executive: news stories are the oldest sales signal there is. Save the article and file it under the company in the story. Included on Solo and higher.

How to use it

  1. Open one news article
  2. Press Save beside the headline
  3. Pick the company the story is about

The company lands in Saved leads within a second.

What to save on News publishers

Save a story when it reports a change at a company you could sell to. Funding and expansion mean new budget. A leadership change means new priorities and often new suppliers. The dialog suggests the companies named in the headline, so you rarely have to type one.

Where the Save button appears

A Save button beside the headline of a news article. Tested on 45 publishers across the US, UK, Europe, Canada, Australia, Asia and India, including CNN, Fortune, The Guardian, BBC, The Independent, Harvard Business Review, Adweek, The Drum, TechCrunch, Mint and the GlobeNewswire press wire. About 40 more (Forbes, Bloomberg, Reuters, NYT, WSJ, FT, The Verge and others) are switched on but block automated testing, so they are not yet confirmed.

What gets saved

The headline, the summary the page gives, the publisher, the link and the lead image. The dialog suggests companies named in the headline, not the publisher.

What is never saved

The full article text, anything behind a paywall, comments and live blogs. Home pages and section pages get no button.

How not to use it

File the publisher as the lead. The lead is the company in the story.

Common questions

Which plan do I need for news publishers?

Solo or higher. The Free plan covers X, YouTube and Instagram only.

Does it post or act on my accounts?

No. It never posts, likes, follows or messages from your accounts, and it never opens tabs or browses on its own. It reads a page when you click Save.

Where do saves from news publishers go?

Into Saved leads in your dashboard and in the side panel, filed under the company you confirm. They appear within a second.

What if the Save button doesn't appear on news publishers?

Check that the extension is enabled and that you're on a supported page, then reload it. If a site has changed its layout, the button can go missing until we update the reader. Troubleshooting shows how to check each site's recent success rate.
