01Why most sales feeds are full of noise
When teams start monitoring social feeds and news alerts, their inboxes quickly become overwhelmed.
A company winning a local business award is news. A founder celebrating a five-year work anniversary is news. Neither indicates that the company is preparing to purchase external software or hire an agency.
If you treat all company activity as a reason to write, you will burn time crafting custom pitches for prospects who have neither budget nor urgency. You need an objective framework to separate commercial signals from vanity PR.
02The 3-tier trigger hierarchy
| Tier | Category | Concrete Examples | Commercial Urgency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 (Immediate) | Direct Problem & Budget Allocation | Founder asking for recommendations; Freshly closed funding round ($2M+); Hiring first head of department | High (Next 7–14 days): Cash is allocated and actively looking for solutions. |
| Tier 2 (Emerging) | Strategic & Operational Shifts | Product Hunt / major version launch; Sudden expansion of paid advertising; Entering new geographic market | Moderate (Next 30–60 days): Internal reorganization under way. |
| Tier 3 (Vanity) | Brand Awareness & PR | Podcast guest appearances; Industry awards and accolades; Work anniversary / culture posts | Low to Zero: No budget attached; strictly brand-building. |
03How to score a company trigger (The 4-part model)
Save This Lead uses four specific parameters to score opportunities from 0 to 100 in Market Intel:
- The Event Weight (Up to 35 Points): What actually took place? A closed round of capital or a direct problem request ranks far higher than an award announcement.
- Community Demand (Up to 25 Points): Are other operators noticing and saving this signal? High interest often reflects a major market shift.
- Recency (Up to 25 Points): Did this happen today, or three weeks ago?
- Fit / ICP Alignment (Up to 15 Points): Does this company operate in the industries and geographies you actually sell to?
04The danger of chasing Tier 3 vanity signals
Outreach based on vanity signals almost always sounds disingenuous:
Congratulations on being featured on the Startup Grind podcast! Really loved your thoughts on company culture. By the way, do you need fractional CFO services?
The recipient immediately recognizes this as a generic cold pitch dressed up in artificial flattery.
Compare that to reaching out on a Tier 1 trigger:
Saw your post mentioning you are evaluating automated billing tools before next month's launch. We ran benchmark audits on Stripe Billing vs Chargebee for SaaS teams at your scale. Dropped the comparison chart here if you're comparing both.
The Tier 1 message requires no flattery because it directly addresses an active, unsolved operational challenge.
05Rules for daily signal triage
To keep your outreach pipeline efficient:
- Discard Tier 3 signals immediately: Do not bookmark or save general celebratory updates.
- Act on Tier 1 signals within 48 hours: If an executive posts a direct request or problem, their inbox will be flooded within three days. Reach out before the noise arrives.
- Queue Tier 2 signals on a delayed schedule: A company launching a product today is usually overwhelmed. Schedule follow-ups for two weeks post-launch when the immediate frenzy subsides.
06Where Save This Lead fits for signal scoring
Save This Lead calculates an automated Market Intel score (0 to 100) for every company you save. Instead of sorting leads alphabetically or chronologically, Market Intel groups your saves by company and ranks them based on event importance, recency, and fit.
Market Intel scores are calculated only from posts you have saved or scrolled past in your own workspace. Save This Lead does not access private data or score companies you haven't browsed.
